Supportive Therapies

GaitScan™

Your Feet, Lack of proper care, ill-fitting shoes and general foot neglect are responsible for the majority of foot problems.

It’s important to understand your feet have direct impact on the rest of your body and support you with each step. A small abnormality in foot function can have a large impact on joints higher up in the body, causing pain and discomfort.

When you are running, the pressure on your feet can be three or four times your body weight. Even walking can produce more pressure than the sum of your body weight. The American Podiatric Medical Association says that the average person takes 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day. That adds up to about 115,000 miles in a lifetime or more than four times the circumference of the globe. That is a lot of walking with ill-fitting shoes or painful feet!!

In some cases foot ailments can be an early signal of more serious medical problems like arthritis or diabetes.

Women have four times as many foot problems as men because they have a long history of wearing high heels and/or pointy toe shoes.

Orthotics and proper shoe fit are very important aspects of foot health. Remember if you are experiencing pain or discomfort in your ankles, knees or hip joints ….the direct cause may be the function of your feet or ill-fitting shoes.

TOG GaitScan™

Our GaitScan™ System is a revolutionary diagnostic tool for assessing your patient’s biomechanics. GaitScan™ has an industry high 4096 sensors and scans at an industry high 125Hz (scans per second). These measurements provide today’s Health Care Professionals with a sophisticated explanation of foot mechanics and assists them with orthotic and/or shoe solutions.

TOG GaitScan™ is the most technologically advanced gait analysis system available and it has been designed to move you to the forefront of orthotic therapy and patient education.

Craniopathy

Craniopathy is a gentle and effective method which deals with the micro motion of the skull (cranium), its distortions, and ultimately its effect on normal cerebro-spinal fluid flow and the nervous system.

The skull may be distorted by birth trauma, accidents, postural stresses, dental extractions and malocclusions, chronic physiological stresses, toxic exposure, and other conditions. The 26 bones of the cranium undergo slight but regular and complex movements with respect to one another. This facilitates the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid and the functioning of nerve tissue. Between the individual cranial bones are thousands of nerves detecting and controlling the movement, tension, and balance of the muscles and bones of the face, cranium, and neck.

The cranium houses 3 of the body’s balance mechanisms. Any distortion in the cranial and facial bones can lead to disturbances in postural balance and increased muscular and nervous tension. If these problems become chronic then the individual may not have enough resources to protect against the development and progression of other diseases. If you have had only temporary or partial relief from chiropractic, acupuncture, nutritional, herbal or other therapies, then you may have an undiagnosed cranial problem. This is even more likely if you have dental or jaw (TMJ) problems, poor posture, food allergies, or a history of head injury.

Electrical Therapy: InterX 5000

The InterX 5000 is the first product from NRG to use a new generation of neurostimulation technology called Interactive Neurostimulation. Hand-held and battery operated, the InterX 5000 delivers significant results in applications such as:

  • Injury Management – on the sports field or in the clinic.
  • Rehabilitation – complementary to physical therapy.
  • Pain Relief – both acute and complex chronic pain conditions.

Dynamically Different

The InterX 5000 is unique in the way it engages the body’s natural resources to assist the processes of pain management and rehabilitation. Although it introduces electrical impulses into the body, the InterX 5000 achieves its results through an approach that is very different to conventional neurostimulation in three major aspects:

  1. High amplitude, low current impulses: Most neurostimulation products are only able to engage A and B nerve fibres, producing short-term effects that cease soon after power no longer flows through their electrodes into the body. The InterX 5000’s impulses safely stimulate C and A Delta nerve fibres, which are normally very difficult to stimulate with a non-invasive therapy. Popular theory supports the concept that stimulation of the C and A Delta nerve fibres causes the Central Nervous System to release neuropeptides and regulatory peptides into the bloodstream. It is believed that this activation of the body’s self-regulating resources is one of the keys to the InterX 5000’s significant effectiveness during and after treatment. 2. “Interactive” stimulation: The electrical properties of the skin and its underlying tissues can vary greatly due to a number of factors. For example, inflamed tissue will have very different properties when compared to normal healthy tissue. The InterX 5000 is sensitive to these differences and immediately adapts to provide an appropriate level of stimulation. As the body responds to stimulation, the InterX 5000 adjusts dynamically to the changes it senses from its electrodes in contact with the skin. Therefore, the InterX 5000 is engaged in a process of constant interaction that provides optimal treatment and resistance to the body’s attempt to accommodate to the stimulation. 3. Accurate treatment locations: The InterX 5000 uses its ability to sense changes in tissue properties to provide feedback to the therapist that is valuable in the identification of effective treatment locations. This feedback is provided in a number of ways, such as changes in the way the device moves across the skin, or through readings displayed on the screen that relate to the condition of the tissue immediately under the InterX 5000’s electrodes.
