Electrical Therapy: InterX 5000
The InterX 5000 is the first product from NRG to use a new generation of neurostimulation technology called Interactive Neurostimulation.
Hand-held and battery operated, the InterX 5000 delivers significant results in applications such as:
- Injury Management - on the sports field or in the clinic.
- Rehabilitation - complementary to physical therapy.
- Pain Relief - both acute and complex chronic pain conditions.
Dynamically Different
The InterX 5000 is unique in the way it engages the body’s natural resources to assist the processes of pain management and rehabilitation. Although it introduces electrical impulses into the body, the InterX 5000 achieves its results through an approach that is very different to conventional neurostimulation in three major aspects:
- High amplitude, low current impulses: Most neurostimulation products are only able to engage A and B nerve fibres, producing short-term effects that cease soon after power no longer flows through their electrodes into the body. The InterX 5000's impulses safely stimulate C and A Delta nerve fibres, which are normally very difficult to stimulate with a non-invasive therapy. Popular theory supports the concept that stimulation of the C and A Delta nerve fibres causes the Central Nervous System to release neuropeptides and regulatory peptides into the bloodstream. It is believed that this activation of the body's self-regulating resources is one of the keys to the InterX 5000's significant effectiveness during and after treatment.
- "Interactive" stimulation: The electrical properties of the skin and its underlying tissues can vary greatly due to a number of factors. For example, inflamed tissue will have very different properties when compared to normal healthy tissue. The InterX 5000 is sensitive to these differences and immediately adapts to provide an appropriate level of stimulation. As the body responds to stimulation, the InterX 5000 adjusts dynamically to the changes it senses from its electrodes in contact with the skin. Therefore, the InterX 5000 is engaged in a process of constant interaction that provides optimal treatment and resistance to the body's attempt to accommodate to the stimulation.
- Accurate treatment locations: The InterX 5000 uses its ability to sense changes in tissue properties to provide feedback to the therapist that is valuable in the identification of effective treatment locations. This feedback is provided in a number of ways, such as changes in the way the device moves across the skin, or through readings displayed on the screen that relate to the condition of the tissue immediately under the InterX 5000's electrodes.
